A taxonomic revision of the genus Illicium is presented based mainly of herbarium studies involving more than 10 thousand speciemens from 121herbaria worldwide, along with field observations and morphological studies. Variation in morphological character of flower buds and tepals is used as the basis of an amended supraspecific classification, with 2 sections, viz.:Illicium sect. Illicium, consisting of 9 species and 1 subspecies and characterized by flower buds ovoid, and tepals oblong, elliptic, lanceolate to narrowly ligulate, and flat;and Illicium sect. Cymbostemon, consisting of 25 species, 2 subspecies and 1 variety with flower buds sphaeroid, and tepals broadly ovate to orbicular, and concave. Illicium sect. Impressicosta Law & Q. Lin is regarded as a new synonym of Illicium sect. Illicium, Illicium subgen. Cymbostemon (Spach) Law & Q. Lin is regarded as a new synonym of Illicium sect. Cymbostemon (Spach) A. C. Smith, and lectotypes of Illicium henryi Diels and I. cambodianum Hance are designated. Taxonomic character, a key to the taxa, geographical distribution, specimens examined, and classification notes are provided for each taxon in this paper.

In order to establish somaclones of E. ulmoides, we used as explants leaves and petioles of 5~6 year old E. ulmoides and studied the method of callus induction and plant regeneration. Explants taken from leaves and petioles were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 2.0~4.0 mg/L NAA or 1.0 mg/L BA+2.0~4.0 mg/L NAA. After 21~28 days of culture both leaves and petioles dedifferentiated, forming green or greenish compact callus, with induction frequency surpassing 70%. Transferred onto MS medium supplemented with 2.25~2.75 mg/L BA+0.15 mg/L NAA and cultured for 1~2 passages, the callus redifferentiated at a frequency of over 15%. The optimal condition for redifferentiation needs further study because many shoots went abnormal. To induce rooting, healthy shoots were selected. The callus at the based end of the shoot was cut off, and the cut end was soaked in a sterile ABT rooting powder solution (250 mg/L) for 3~5 sec. Subsequently the treated shoot was transplanted into 1/4 strength, hormone free MS medium. After 2~3 weeks, 1~5 sturdy white root(s) appeared from the lower end of the shoot. Approximately 60%~80% of the shoots rooted.

Somatic embryo induction was the key in soybean regeneration. Genetype, inducing photoperiod, explant pod site in and sucrose concentration were the main factors in the somatic embryo induction, which lead to the different embryogenesis efficiency and the number of normal embryos. Cultivars Hefeng25 and Dongnong7819 were desiable genotype.2-4mm long immature cotyledons from the lower part of plant at the early stage of growth and develpment were more efficent for embryogenesis. The embryogenesis frequncy under four photoperiod were similar, but the frequncy of normal embryos was higher under continuous dim light. NAA was superior to 2, 4-D in embryogenesis;combination of 10mg/lNAA and 1.5% sucrose was better.

Spore morphology of 8 species 2 varieties of genus Onychium from China was examined by SEM. Each spore was described detailed. The taxonomic status of Onychium was discussed. The spore morphology of the genus is uniform, trilete, radiosymmetric, polar view obtuse triangular or tri-rounded, equatorial view elliptical, super semiorbicular or fan-shaped. Perispore thin, exospore swells to form contour of spore ornamentation. The spore has a few unique structures such as equatorial flange, proximal ridge and distal ridge. Difference between species mainly appears as different distal surface ornamentation. At the point of spore morphology, Onychium is far distinguished from other genera in Sinopteridaceae. However, it is similar to genus Pteris of family Pteridaceae. We suggest separate Onychium from Sinopteridaceae to Pteridaceae.

Athyrium Roth is a typical Eastern Asiatic genus. There are about 160 species in the world. However, except a few species, most of them occur in the subtropical mountains of eastern Asia, and small part of them occurs in the temperature area of E. Asia. China is the distribution center of the genus with 117 species. The species of Athyrium in Taiwan are particularly close to the species in mainland. Therefore, it is a representative example for revealing the phytogeographical relationship between the two banks of the strait. There are 32 species of Athyrium sensu lato in Taiwan, including 27 species of Athyrium sensu strict, 2 species of Dryoathyrium, 1 species of Lunathyrium, 1 species of Athyriopsis and 1 species of Pseudocystopteris. If ignoring 4 species of Athyrium sensu strict with doubt, there are 28 species in Taiwan at least. Among them, 21 species are in common with mainland, the common percentage is 75%. Moreover, although the other 7 species have not been found in mainland, they are very similar to some species in mainland morphologically. Whether there are the same species, subspecies or sibling species or not? Which is still waiting for the further studies. Among the 16 common species of Athyrium sensu strict between Taiwan and mainland, 7 species are disjunct distribution between Taiwan and Southwest China. Which not only shows Athyrium species in Taiwan have close relationship with mainland species may be with common origin, but also shows the flora of the highland of Taiwan has most close relationship with the flora of the highland in the Southwest mainland. Further investigating and examining of genetic relationship (such as genetic identity) of the common or related species of two banks of the strait with biosystematic or molecular systematic methods, and further understanding and quantitative studies on the historical and geographical relationships between the florae of Taiwan and mainland are necessary.

The results showed that Secale carele L. can be croped two crops in growth date from turngreen to early summer (June 7).The highest total aboveground biomass was 1004.20 g/m2. There was an indication that the herb had high efficiency of photosynthesis. Through contrast of productive characteristic of the first and second crop, there were results that the second crop was 57.11% in the highest total aboveground biomass and growth date of the crop was 42.06% in total growth date. To the first crop the ratio of fresh herb and dry herb was relatively high and the ratio of stem to leaf was relatively low. The results showed clearly that the first crop was more suited for fresh fodder or green drink and food, and the second crop was more suited for dry fodder or natural fiber food. Through comparative study of AGR and RGR, it was further testified that later management of the first crop had an important effect on formation of total aboveground biomass. The study provided a scientific basis for applying ecological engineering of efficient agriculture to developing productive characteristic of Secale carele L. to a maximum.

In this paper, the comparative analysis of protein composition and change in pollen monther cells have been studied during meiosis I cycle by using "Micro-Isolation"、"Micro-Protein SDS-PAGE"and "Ultrasensitive Silver Stain" techniques. The results indicated that more than 25 protein bands could be detected in 100 meiotic cells which were isolated by micromanipulation. Protein composition has not change at prophase I and metaphase I. But 8 bands which have molecular weight 28KD、27KD、26KD、26KD、24KD、23KD、22KD、16KD、, respectively, were disappeared and 185KD protein band was appeared at anaphase I and telophase I. Experiment techniques were set up in this study are very useful for studying protein changes during meiosis and experiment results were obtained in this study are also very valuable for studying biochemical mechanism of meiotic cycle and cycle regulation in higher plants.
