A taxonomic revision of the genus Illicium is presented based mainly of herbarium studies involving more than 10 thousand speciemens from 121herbaria worldwide, along with field observations and morphological studies. Variation in morphological character of flower buds and tepals is used as the basis of an amended supraspecific classification, with 2 sections, viz.:Illicium sect. Illicium, consisting of 9 species and 1 subspecies and characterized by flower buds ovoid, and tepals oblong, elliptic, lanceolate to narrowly ligulate, and flat;and Illicium sect. Cymbostemon, consisting of 25 species, 2 subspecies and 1 variety with flower buds sphaeroid, and tepals broadly ovate to orbicular, and concave. Illicium sect. Impressicosta Law & Q. Lin is regarded as a new synonym of Illicium sect. Illicium, Illicium subgen. Cymbostemon (Spach)Law & Q. Lin is regarded as a new synonym of Illicium sect. Cymbostemon (Spach)A. C. Smith, and lectotypes of Illicium henryi Diels and I. cambodianum Hance are designated. Taxonomic character, a key to the taxa, geographical distribution, specimens examined, and classification notes are provided for each taxon in this paper.

The present paper studied on the cytological, palynological, morphological, anatomical as well as the embryological characteristics of two taxons, Foeniculum vulgare Miller and F. vulgare subsp. copillaceum var. azoricum (Miller) Thellung, in Foeniculum Miller. The results indicated that the distinctions in palynology including the type, shape, size, aperture, as well as the characteristics of the exine of the pollen, in cytology the AS·K% etc., in morphology the basal stem and the sheathes of the basal leaves were visible. The differences in quantitative properties of anatomy and in the integuments of the two toxons also were detected. Moreover, as far as the above corresponding characteristics existing in palynology, cytology and embryology were concerned, F. vulgare Miller possessed more evolutional characteristics, compared with F. vulgare subsp. copillaceum var. azoricum (Miller) Thellung. These results supported the treatment of Miller (1768)which both F. vulgare Miller and F. vulgare subsp. copillaceum var. azoricum (Miller)Thellung as species rank under F. vulgare, and did not support the current treatment given by Hiroe (1979)which F. vulgare subsp. copillaceum var. azoricum (Miller)Thellung was a variety derived from F. vulgare Miller, and restored its name Foeniculum azoricum Miller.

There is no specific conclusion about systematic status of Larix olgensis and species relationship with Larix gmelinii. Experiment materials were taken from six sites including Daxingan Mountain, Xiaoxingan Mountain and Zhangguangcai Mountain. CpDNA rbcL gene of materials is analysized by PCR-RFLP and DNA sequence methods. The results suggest their rbcL gene sequences are the same and plants of Larix in Northeast China have same origin. Larix olgensis evolved from Larix gmelinii in systematic evolution, so it is suitable to regard Larix olgensis as a variety of Larix gmelinii and the name should be Larix gmelinii (Rupr.)Rupr. var. olgensis (Henry)Ostenfeld et S. Pollen viability and life-span of Eleutherococcus senticosus was evaluated by TTC (2, 3, 5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride)test, its stigma receptivity was estimated by benzidine-H 2O 2 method and bagging, and the stigma submicroscopic morphology was examined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results as follows:In same habtat, the pollen viability of long-filament (male)E. senticosus was higher than that of middle-filament (bisexual)E. senticosus, the life span of both of them was about 4 days. Moreover, the pollen viability and its decline rate were different according to different plants and different habitats. The stigma of long-filament E. senticosus hadn't receptivity forever, the short-filament (female)and middle-filament (bisexual)E. senticosus had stigma receptivity at 5~7, 6~8, or 7~9 days after blooming according to different habitats, and the more the canopy closure was, the later the stigma receptivity began. When the stigmas began to receive pollens, they were wet, dehiscent and 5 or 4-lobed, and the stigma papillae were kitten's ear-like shape.

The effects of sodium bisulfite on the cell division and growth of A. sativum seedlings were studied. The results showed that the mitotic index (MI)and growth speed increased when seedlings incubated in sodium bisulfite solution with lower concentration(0.2mmol/L). But seedlings growth slowed down when they incubated with higher concentrations(1.5 or 2.0mmol/L). Furthermore, SO2 decreased MI significantly and induced abnormal division. At the same time cell cycle was delayed. The effects were dependent on the concentration and duration time.

Spore morphology of 44 species of the genus Athyrium from China was examined by SEM. The spore morphology of the genus is monolete, bilaterosymmetric, polar view ellipsoidal, equatorial view phaseoliform, exospore plain. The surface ornamentation of the spore was formed by perispore. Based on surface ornamentation and other features, the spores of the genus Athyrium are divided into two types. In type I, the outer layer of perispore is complete, surface ornamentation of spore is formed by outer layer of perispore, which is usually rugate folds on the spore surface. 11 species among them have this pattern. In type II, the outer layer of perispore is thin or incomplete, the surface ornamentation of spore is formed by inner layer or middle of perispore. 33 species among them have this pattern. The relationship of the spore morphology and taxonomy in Athyrium was discussed in this paper.

Scales from inner, middle and outer layers of 2-year-old L. pumilum bulbs were propagated different stroma under different air temperatures and light intensities. Results showed that the most important factor influencing bulblet quantity and diamiter was temperature and light intensity, followed by scale position.Bulblets grew best at 25℃ and dark condition. Stroma had no impact on bulb propagation. Middle and outer layer scales produced more bulblets than inner ones, and average diamiter of bulblets produeced from middle and outer layer scales was larger than those from inner ones. Scales almost withered after 40 days. Weight of per 100 scales and quantity of bulblet has positively correlation to bulblet diameter. Under same condition, the quantity of bulblet reproducted by the section cut with knife is remarkablely higher than by the section broken off with hands.

The number of fir-apples and seeds for Abies yuanbaoshanensis unit are difference. The relationship among length, diameter and number, quality of seed is signalization. The weight for kilo grains of seeds are 16.9581 g, containing water 12.85%.The water absorption of seeds of Abies yuanbaoshanensis clearly showed three stages:the first in 0~1 hours, the rapid absorption;the second stager in 1~10 hours, the stagnant;the third stage in 10~339 hours, is the fast reabsorption, especially in 10~15 hours. The rate of burgeon up for satiety seeds in the incubator that constant temperature and humidity are 18.9%, while the rate is 6.8% for open air. The main cause for continuing and extending the population is inferior capability of seeds for burgeon.

Effects of calcium on chilling resistance of radish seedlings and some physiological indexes were studied. The result shows that chilling resistance of the radish seedlings is enhanced and some physiological indexes are affected seeds are pretrated by calcium. The activities of SOD, POD, CAT, AsA-POD of the treated group are ligher than the comparative group's after the seedlings are treated by low temperature stress and after growing at normal temperature. The contents of proline and ascorbic acid of the treated group are higher than the comparative group after low temperature. But, concent of malondialdhyda of the treated group is lower than the comparative group after low temperature. This shows that effect of calcium on chilling resistance of radish seedlings is probably related to preventing lipid peroxidation.

In this paper it was studied that effects of Disphenylurea sulfonic calcium on improving drought resistance of wheat seedlings. Different concentration can lead to various effects after Disphenylurea sulfonic calcium was sprayed on leaves at the stage with 3 leaves.100mg/L disphenylurea sulfonic calcium was more effective than others. It can improve enzyme activity of SOD, POD and CAT, holding water ability and restoring ability of leaves. Moreover, germination rate was greatly increased when using 100mg/L Disphenylurea sulfonic calcium to mix seeds, These results indicated that the mechanism of Disphenylurea sulfonic calcium in relieving drought injury may be mainly related to regulate active oxygen metabolism and protect biomembrane.

After continuous hygB selection, stable hygromycin-resistant, GUS-positive calli and plants were recovered. Some putative transgenic R0 plants were conducted with molecular assays, the results indicated that foreign genes had been stably integrated in the genome of transgenic rice. The results suggested that the ingredients of holmen of 2, 4-D 1mg/L、TDZ 0.5mg/L、NAA 1mg/L were efficient for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of rice, besides, the addition of AS increased the efficiency of transformation by 8.9%~23.5%. At the same time, we found that both the dilution of agrobacteria and the adjusting of the concentration of hygB affected the efficiency of transformation.

Global changes have posed a profound impact on the earth's life system. The mechanism with which plant responds to global changes would help us to take measures on the practice of adjustment and optimization of ecosystem. Gansu, located along the northeast margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, northwest of China, is quite divers in vegetation, physiognomic types and climate features. From the south to the north, there occurred subtropic evergreen broad-leaved forests, warm temperate broad-leaved forests, frigid-temperate coniferous forests as well as desert shrublands with a span of 10 latitudes and 15 longitudes(93°25'~108° 42'E, 32°18'~42°18'N).This paper, based on previous study on floristic inventories and partition of Gansu woody plant flora, focused on the study of correlation between the pattern of plant life form as well as fruit types and hydrothermic factors. 6 Floristic subregions(i.e., that of Zoulang, Zhongbu, Qilianshan, Tianshui, Longnan and Gannan)in Gansu were set for the statistic of life form and fruit types. Totally 1291 woody species belonging to 292genera, 94families were classified into 7 life-form spectra types, that is, lianas, big tree, tree, big shrub, shrub, small shrub as well as parasites and lianas. Some conclusions are as follows:(1)the factors of water and heat were correlated positively with plant life-form of arbor, lianas and parasites and negatively with that in small shrubs. Shrubs with the height of 1.5m ~3m were negatively correlated with annual mean precipitation and annual mean temperature and(2)hydrothermic factors were positively correlated with evergreen plant and negatively with deciduous plant.(3)The percentage of evergreen in Zoulang was fairly higher than that of Zhongbu where hydrothermic factors were relatively more available in contrast to Zoulang, which mainly resulted from the specific background of floristic origin in Zoulang.(4)Humidity was correlated positively with sarcocarp while negatively with dry fruit, which suggesting that moisture conditions might shape the allocation patterns of dry fruit and sarcocarp in a given communities. (5)Cone was correlated negatively with heat factors while positively with moisture. Key fruit, nut, drupe, follicle, caryopsis were positively correlated with hydrothermic factors. Berry was significantly posotively correlated with humidity degree. Capsule was negatively correlated with hydrothermic factors, which indicated that capsule might derived under cool and dry climate. Utricle was negatively correlated with annual mean precipitation. (6)Species diversity, life form and fruit type, height of tree were correlatively changed along a environmental gradient. To clarify the evolutionary sequence among plant fruits would be helpful to both disclose the pattern of fruits and further the study on the mechanism with which plant responds to environmental changes.

The Yukeng forest community in Xianju County of Zhejiang Province has abundance of plant species, of which the dominant population is not so clearly classified. In the community. the evergreen broad-leaved trees are the major plants while the deciduous broad-leaved trees take up a definite proportion. The plant species of various plots hardly resemble and their compositions are very different. The community's vertical structure is complicated, and supraterraneous stratification is clearly determined. The shrub layer of the community has rather a high species diversity index, and the diversity index varies greatly from one plot to another. In the plot, the age structure of the evergreen broad-leaved trees of domminant population is stable or increasing whereas the age structure of the deciduous trees is declining. The distribution pattern of dominant population in the shrub layer is random or uniform.

Capsella bursa-pastoris, Lepidium apetalum, Lagopsis supina and Viola prionantha are four common early spring plants in Taiyuan, Shanxi. The biomass dynamics during their growth and development processes were studied by using harvest method and regression analysis, moreover, the relationship between the biomass and time were analyzed by regression analysis. The results were as follows:(1)The regression equations between the biomass of C. bursa-pastoris fruits, L. apetalum stem, L. supina stem, V. prionantha stem and total and time are high significant. (2)Accumulation of photosynthetic products was used to produce large amount of seeds. As a result, the proportion of the mature fruit's biomass in total was fairly high, among which the maximum were C. bursa-pastoris 56.7%, L. apetalum 40.6%, L. supina 25.2% and of V. prionantha 18.1%, respectively. (3)It was suggested that most of the early spring plants grow rapidly in May. C. bursa-pastoris, L. apetalum and L. supina reached the climax of their biomass increment ratio during the end of April, whereas V. prionantha weight peaks took place during the middle of May.
