Abstract: The Yukeng forest community in Xianju County of Zhejiang Province has abundance of plant species, of which the dominant population is not so clearly classified. In the community. the evergreen broad-leaved trees are the major plants while the deciduous broad-leaved trees take up a definite proportion. The plant species of various plots hardly resemble and their compositions are very different. The community's vertical structure is complicated, and supraterraneous stratification is clearly determined.The shrub layer of the community has rather a high species diversity index, and the diversity index varies greatly from one plot to another.In the plot, the age structure of the evergreen broad-leaved trees of domminant population is stable or increasing whereas the age structure of the deciduous trees is declining. The distribution pattern of dominant population in the shrub layer is random or uniform.
