Abstract: Effects of calcium on chilling resistance of radish seedlings and some physiological indexes were studied. The result shows that chilling resistance of the radish seedlings is enhanced and some physiological indexes are affected seeds are pretrated by calcium. The activities of SOD, POD, CAT, AsA-POD of the treated group are ligher than the comparative group's after the seedlings are treated by low temperature stress and after growing at normal temperature. The contents of proline and ascorbic acid of the treated group are higher than the comparative group after low temperature. But, concent of malondialdhyda of the treated group is lower than the comparative group after low temperature. This shows that effect of calcium on chilling resistance of radish seedlings is probably related to preventing lipid peroxidation.
