Abstract: A study on morphology structure of epidermis of the genus Spiraea in Heilongjiang province was conducted with scanning clectron microscope (SEM). The result shows that epidermal cells are irregular-shaped and polygonal, the anticlinal wall are strait-arched, sinuated, sinuolate; most of species do not have trichomes, only a little species have trichomes on upper epidermal cells or lower epidermis cells and only the cells of upper epidermal have trichomes; Stomatal apparatus are located in the lower epidermis, all of them are anomocytic, cyclocytic and atypical actinocytic; the inner margin of the outer stomatal rim is glabrous, candida, sinuous and sinuolate; uni-layered outer stomatal rim or double layer; having not T-pieces at the polar region of guard cells, having notably T-pieces at the polar of guard cells. The result provides morphological basis of phylogeny and taxonomic significance for the Spiraea plants of Heilongjiang province.
