Abstract: Using 66 temporary plots, 18 permanent plots, and 8 branch analysis plots of Larix olgensis plantations, growth of dominant trees and the crown structure and dynamics of trees were analyzed. The Korf equation, which is suitable for tree growth, was used to develop potential growth function of trees. Stand density index (SDI) was applied as a quantitative index to measure mean crowd degree between trees. On selecting individual tree competition indices, tree crown variables were introduced and it was compared with conventional competition indices in order to downplay distance factor. Using relative crown surface area as the distance-independent competition indices, individual tree growth modei of Larix olgensis was developed.
