Abstract: In this paper, compositions of the volatile oil in the root of Aralia continentalis Kitag were studied first by GC-MS-DS, and 16 kinds of compounds that account for 92.88 per cent of total content were identified. The main composition of these compounds is α-pinene. Mass fraction of α-pinene is above 50 per cent. At the same time, the volatile oil of root also contains β-pinene and copaene etc.
