Abstract: The spore is tetrahedral, trilete. The patterns of spore germination is of Vittaria-type (nayar 1971). Generally the germ filaments develop 2-12cells long, uniseriate, or multiserite. The prothalli are naked and cordate. The sex organs are rather large. It seems that these are common primitive characteristics of the family. The prothallial development is the Adiantum-type, or Ceratopteris-type (Nayar 1971) or the mediate between the two types. It implies that the prothalli are more variable in the development of the taxon, and also reflect the characteristics of the family.
