Abstract: The pollen grains of 17 sections of genus Salix, including 29 species, 6 varities and 1 form are investigated under light and scanning electron microscope. The characters of pollen grains, types of aperture and ornamentation, thickness of exine and substructure of ornamentation are considered more important for distinguishing sections but vain among species in a section. Pollen grains of the natural hybrid Salix matsudana f. tortuosa X S.eriocarpa have the middle morphological characters of its parents S. matsudana f. tortuosa and S. eriocarpa. The features of pollen of individuals in a species, collected from different places, vary a little. The method UPGMA based on distance coefficient is used for descripting the relationship between sect. Urbanianae and Pentandrae. The relationship between some other sections also been discussed.
