Abstract: The non-autoclaved Aspergillus niger v.Tiegh elicitor could promote vanillin biosynthesis in suspension cell culture of Vanilla planifolia; Phenylalanine was profitable to cell growth of Vanilla planifolia, but did not affect vanillin formation;ferulic acid could slow down cell growth and increase vanillin accumulation, but its concentration should not be higher than 5m mol/L.

Key words: Vanilla planifolia, Vanillin, Suspension culture, Elicitor, Ferulic acid, Phenylalanine
