Abstract: Phytochemical analyses have been made on the alkaloids in secondary content of several species in subgen. Zanthoxylum and Fagara of family Rutaceae. Their results show the similarities of two biogenic ways and their alkaloids existing in various species of two subgenera. The evidence provided by phytochemistry supports an ar-gument for subgen. Fagara as a synonym. of gen. Zanthoxylum.
