Abstract: The endosperm cells in Eucommia ulmoides showed characteristics of programmed cell death(PCD) in the process of endosperm degeneration. The in situ autolysis of the cytoplasm was seen, and cell organelle showed degeneration with different degree; Annulate lamellae(AL) swallowed and spaced cell contents-The loop-shaped and compact nuclei seen in cells were abnormal forms of nucleus. DNA was degenerat ed and showed obscure strip in electrophoresis. The radicle-end and non-radicle end endosperm cells had different order when they came to PCD.
