Abstract: Based mainly on herbarium studies involving more than five thousand specimens from 54 herbaria worldwide and f ield observations, Kadsura renchangiana S. F. Lan is regarded as a new synonym of K. angustifolia A. C. Smith, K. philippinensis Elmer and K. peltigera Rehder & Wilson are regarded as two new synonyms of K. heteroclita(Roxburgh) Craib, K. longipedunculata Finet & Gagnepain, K. discigera Finet & Gagnepain, K. paucidenticulata Merrill, K. macgregorii Merrill and K. omeiensis S. F. Lan are regarded as five new synonyms of K. japonica(Linn.) Dunal, K. celebica A. C. Smith is regarded as a new synonym of K. scandens(Blume) Blume, and K. acsmithii R. M. K. Saunders is regarded as a new synonym of K. verrucosa(Gagnepain) A. C. Smith. Eleven species are recognized in the genus Kadsura Kaempferex Jussieu.
