Abstract: The Penicillum citrinum elicitor was extraxted after autoclaveing a 6~7-day old culture of P.citrinum which could promote taxol biosynthsis in suspension cell cultures of Taxus chinensis. The optimum elicitor cocentration was found to be 50μg carbohydrate/ml medium of T.chinensis cell cultures. T.chinensis cells showed strongest response to the elicitor during the growth phase(20d).The time of autoclaving(20~90min) did not affect the elicitor's activity.
