Abstract: With the aid of Hegyis' single tree competition index model, we have quantitatively analysed the intraspecific and interspecific competition intensity of Gordonia acuminata at its different developing stages within its own community. The results ws have got show:the intraspecific competition of Gordonia acuminata is more intensive than interspecific competitions with other species of accompanying trees; The competition intensity of competitive tree against objective tree and the size of objective tree are subject to power function, and competition intensity decreases with the increase of the size of objective tree;apart from these, there is a obviously negative correlation between the growth speed of objective tree and competition index.
